Jean Kotin is the founding member of JMD Real Estate Services. After taking time off to start a family Jean re-entered the workforce with Ameritus Real Estate Investments in 2014. Her experience at Ameritus included Project Management, Construction Management, Asset and Investment Management. Working with the Ameritus team she took ownership of her projects and the performance of her portfolio. Over the last 4 years she has project managed over 550,000 square feet of Tenant Build to Suit Suites and over $3.0 million in Building Capital Improvements.
She has successfully managed the renovation of over 140,000 square feet of Tenant Build to Suite Interiors and $1.0 million in capital upgrades at 205 West Wacker which was awarded the 2018 BOMA Best Renovated Building.
While managing the capital plan and budgets she redeveloped 213 Institute Place, including 80,000 square feet of Tenant Build to Suit suites and $1.4 million in capital improvements, which led to the successful sale of the asset and return for its investor
She was a key member of the acquisition team that acquired North Shore OPCO a 341,000 square foot portfolio of single story office and flex warehouse properties in the North Shore of Chicago. As the Asset Manager she integrated the investment into Ameritus’ platform and developed and executed the Operating and Capital plan in the first 12 months of ownership.
Jean started in real estate with Equity Group Investments as a tax professional where she worked on the launching a number of REITS including Manufactured Homes, Equity Office Properties and Equity Residential Properties. From there Jean joined Jones Lang LaSalle, (LaSalle Partners) where she took on a number of roles including a member of the Corporate Mergers & Acquisition team, Portfolio Manager of the Firms Co-Investments, Investor Relations and Tax Compliance. When Jean “retired” she took on many Special Projects for JLL as they integrated operations post merger with Jones Lang Wootton.
Her broad experience and independent spirit has led her to start JMD Real Estate Services.
